Man Fined RM4,000 for Uploading <\/strong>Insulting <\/strong>Content <\/strong>on TikTok<\/h1>\n

PETALING JAYA<\/strong> \u2013 A 25-year-old man has been fined RM4,000 by the Bachok Magistrates\u2019 Court after pleading guilty to posting online content deemed insulting to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.<\/p>\n

According to Sinar Harian<\/em>, the charge was made under Section 292 of the Penal Code. Bachok district police chief Ismail Jamaluddin stated that the man was arrested following a police report lodged on Friday. The report was based on a video the suspect uploaded, which allegedly contained offensive remarks targeting the prime minister.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe individual used derogatory terms to refer to the prime minister and accused him of visiting Bachok last Saturday merely to \u2018deceive\u2019 attendees at the Madani Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration held at Pantai Irama,\u201d Ismail said.<\/p>\n

The suspect also called on the public to boycott the prime minister\u2019s visit, an act authorities said could have potentially disturbed public order.<\/p>\n

Further investigations revealed pornographic content on the suspect\u2019s mobile phone, police said.<\/p>\n

In addition to the charge under Section 292, the man is also being investigated under Section 504 of the Penal Code and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955, both of which involve actions intended to provoke a breach of the peace.<\/p>\n

Authorities are also probing the case under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, which pertains to the misuse of network facilities or services.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are currently awaiting a full report from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) before proceeding with further action,\u201d Ismail added.<\/p>\n
